This tree is also known as Curly Willow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I met big willow who has characteristic of screwed branch at the lakeside of Biwako in Nagahama of Shiga Prefecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This type of plant is called “Unryu \/ \u96f2\u7adc \/ \u3046\u3093\u308a\u3085\u3046” in Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Un-Ryu” literally means “Clouds-Dragon” in English. It may be said that “Un-Ryu” refers to old painting works. It is known as “Un-Ryu-Zu” = “Clouds-Dragon-Drawing”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for Un-Ryu-Zu, It may be good to see website of Kenninji temple<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plants who has characteristic of Unryu is usually favored especially in bonsai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is reason why Unryu has character of screwed branch in itself and it is essential elements for bonsai when we shape it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
